2nd & 3rd December 24

Year 7 and 8 have no timetabled lessons on these days and should not attend School.

Year 7 and 8 students will be working virtually over these two days on their PSHE curriculum, undertaking work set by their Heads of Learning and Ms Blacksley – Head of Health and Wellbeing and Physical Education. This work is compulsory and will be collected on their return to school on Wednesday 4th December by their Urswick Parents.

Full instructions and additional copies of booklets are available in the drop downs below.

‘Prepare to Perform Days’ are extremely important days for our year 9, Key Stage 4 and 5 students.

This year we are designating two days during the school year, whereby we all work intensively on accelerating progress in Years 10 and 11. These variations to the normal school timetable will help your child to raise his/her achievement in their GCSE exams in 2025.

Year 10 and 11 students need to report to school at 8.30am. All students will be provided with lunch as usual, on both days. All students are required to wear full school uniform and must come to each lesson with the correct equipment and prior work, so that they can make best use of the time available. Personalised timetables have been given to each student. Finally, please note the slightly later finishing time on each day at 4pm.

Key Stage 5 will be doing mock exams and Key Stage 4 will be in intensive workshop style sessions with specialist staff around their GCSE Options.

Year 9 students are also beginning their preparation for GCSE by undertaking mid-year exams.

Please contact the school office if you require any further clarification about arrangements on these days.

Year 7

On Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd December, all Year 7 students will be working at home and completing two booklets: Social Media and Healthy Eating. Below you will find a brief explanation of each booklet:

Day One – Social Media:  In Year 7, we have an ‘Urswick Pathway’ where we look at and discuss a key topic in Family Learning Time each month. In December, we will be looking at Social Media and discussing the advantages and disadvantages. The ‘Social Media’ booklet is designed as a quick introduction to the world of Social Media. Throughout the booklet, there are a number of scenario based tasks for you to complete. Your final project is to write a newsletter for the School Newsletter or to create a poster about how to stay safe online.

Day One Task  Day Two – Healthy Eating: Eating a healthy and balanced diet is important for all of us. This booklet is designed to introduce you to the key aspects of a healthy diet and understanding the 'Eatwell Plate'. Your final project is to create a healthy dinner plate that includes all of the healthy foods that you will look at in this booklet.

Day Two Task All work must be completed to the best of your ability and returned to your Urswick Parent on Wednesday 4th December.

Please note that any booklets not completed will result in a one hour Head of Learning Detention; those that are completed to a high standard will be rewarded with a Praise Postcard from your Urswick Parent and/or Miss Rodrigues.
