Walk for Home

As we celebrate our 505th year in 2025, the school has decided to raise money for the charity Shelter which supports homeless people. Christopher Urswick himself made a number of charitable bequests in his will, following his death in 1522, including a homeless man who visited his church.

Our special chicken and chips lunch resulted in donations of £721. Sixteen Sixth Form students accompanied by Mr Khoo, Ms Rodrigues and Mr Brown did the 'walk for home' in aid of Shelter. This involved an evening walk along the Thames which gave everybody a chance to take in the sights like the Tower of London and Big Ben, and to enjoy the Christmas Lights.

Everybody enjoyed a stop for Hot Chocolate before we completed the walk. One year 13 said this was a welcome break from the pressure of Mock Exams. Everybody enjoyed some healthy exercise.

So far the walk has raised £470 which means the Urswick Community will have donated over £1000 to help support homeless people this winter.
