Vice President of UNICEF, Lord Hastings, visits The Urswick School
As part of the celebrations for Black History Month, Lord Hastings CBE visited us to deliver a speech to Sixth Form and Year 11 students. Following the school's theme of Celebrating Achievement, the current Chair of The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS University) and Vice President of UNICEF spoke insightfully and passionately about the skills and aptitudes young people need to thrive in a changing world. Students were eager to ask questions and were left enthused by his message.
Arzu, Year 12 said 'It enlightened me as it provided me with useful information that changed my perspective on many global aspects'. Dipo, Year 12 said “Very entertaining and engaging as a person who had a lack of hope for my country his speech inspired me”.
